Gardeners and other lovers of fresh produce are often interested in extending the season's bounty by preserving fruits and vegetables at home.  Ohio State University Extension Family and Consumer Sciences educators teach home canning, freezing, and other methods of research-based food preservation.

Join Emily Marrison for hands-on classes this summer.  “Making Salsa” class will be Thursday, July 7 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Lock Landing in Roscoe Village, 600 N Whitewoman St., Coshocton, OH. “Making Pickles” class will be Thursday, August 4 from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Coshocton County OSU Extension Office, 724 S. 7th St., Room 110, Coshocton, OH. Participants will leave with jars of pickles or salsa to enjoy. Each class is $5 and registration can be completed at go.osu.edu/coshfoodpreservation2022 .

Free dial guage pressure canner testing is Saturday, June 18 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Auer Ace Hardware, 1961 Otsego Ave, Coshocton.

The OSU Extension Home Food Preservation Team is also offering the “Savoring Ohio Produce Webinar Series” all summer long.  These online classes emphasize the science behind preservation so that everyone who preserves fruits and vegetables understands why certain procedures must be followed precisely to ensure a high-quality, safe product that they and their family can enjoy. All online classes are Tuesday afternoons from 4-5 PM. Topics include: May 31- Onions and Herbs, June 14- Greens, June 28- Beans, July 26- Peaches, August 9- Corn, August 23- Melon, September 6- Broccoli, Brussels sprouts and Cauliflower, and September 20- Potatoes.
